| News National Health Care Organization to Implement Kroff Chemical Chiller Efficiency Program Wastewater Treatment Chemical Leader Partners with Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Cornett and Associates PITTSBURGH — May 11, 2010 — Kroff Chemical, a respected leader in wastewater treatment chemicals, has teamed with Cornett and Associates, a 100 percent service-disabled veteran-owned general contracting company, in providing its chiller efficiency program to a major health care organization. After establishing a successful beta site at one location, the program will be expanded to more than 17 locations nationally. Kroff Chemical's chiller efficiency program is a web-based program that provides daily analysis of chiller performance. As chillers are logged, efficiency analysis is performed, highlighting operational problems that result in excessive energy costs. Daily tracking of such parameters as temperature profiles on condenser and evaporator water, saturated refrigerant temperatures, oil temperature and pressures, bearing temperatures, purge run times and chiller run times are used to trend performance. Problems identified by the software include excess condenser and evaporator approaches caused by tube fouling, mechanical problems, flow problems and refrigerant leaks; non-condensables; cooling tower problems; water flow problems; and set point problems. Problems identified are quantified in percentage efficiency loss as well as estimated dollar impact on an annual basis. The program will be used to provide measurable savings in energy consumption, resulting in a measurable reduction in total cost of operation.
